Canada tells librarians to shut it.

Canada's conservative government has issued new rules regarding librarians and online media. In short, don't talk online.

Claiming it's a "duty of loyalty" to the "duly elected government," Canada now requires librarians and archivists to receive permission from their manager before chatting online about...I don't know. Saucy romance novels? I imagine that's all librarians talk about. That and NPR.

The government even instituted a snitch hotline, where co-workers can drop a dime on that Chatty Cathy burning up an obscure librarian social network.

Because whenever I think of out of control, treasonous heathens, it's the plump, middle-aged librarian with a moderate knowledge of how to use Twitter.
