The New York Times reports that colleges and universities have stepped up their game to stalk prospective students' Facebook, Twitter, and social media profiles--and are using that information in their application decision making.
In response, students say they're manipulating their online presence to portray a positive presentation (in hopes of being accepted to college!), while maintaining a secondary social media presence with false names, so they can be themselves (in hopes of being nasty to that fellow high schooler killing their popularity!).
It's a weird courting ritual filled with obsession and lies.
It's like The Bachelor, but with fewer roses.
