With many colleges and universities holding commencement ceremonies this weekend, I look back on my own undergrad graduation:
The school couldn't find a special commencement speaker, so the college president gave a speech instead.
In a great moment of candor, the graduating class was told for fifteen minutes how we were entering the worst economy since our grandparents were babies. That many of us would struggle to find jobs. That life would be hard and dreams would be put on hold or never happen at all. But, hey, good luck out there!
A young woman sitting beside me: "Jesus, I'm depressed. I need a drink."
