George Carlin would have been one hell of an English teacher.

George Carlin is the greatest sociology linguistics professor this country ever had. Granted, he didn't work for a college or university, but he could have. He was a comedian. The greatest. He was also a lover of language who found quirks in how we talked. (He also swore a lot. That makes things difficult in finding a video that meets FSU's criteria.)

But some skits exist sans swears. Because I've often questioned your knowledge of culture (yes, you), over the next few weeks I'll post some of his work.

Today's skit? Pulled from a 1970's variety show--potentially The Tony Orlando Show judging by the guy who introduces him. If you don't know who Tony Orlando is, pretend he's your chubby Greek uncle who also happens to be a swinging disco singer. That generally describes Tony Orlando in brief. You can almost smell the gyro meat wafting off your computer screen.
