In seventy years, American nursing homes will be filled with odes to twerking and reality TV--but the line will be drawn at fictional meth heads. (More on that in a moment.)
BabyCenter revealed that Americans have gravitated to popular entertainment when it comes to naming their newborn children. For its annual list of top 100 baby names and hottest naming trends, the website reports the girls name Miley has gained traction with new parents, rising 16 spots for most popular.
Likewise, the names of family members behind Duck Dynasty have all skyrocketed. Korie, Jase, Willie, Silas, and Reed have all seen increases--with Korie rising 89%.
Americans have their limits though, and they apparently draw the line at crystal meth. Names associated with the hit TV show Breaking Bad all saw decreases, some dramatically so. Skyler, Jesse, and Hank all fell out of favor, but Walter (the chemistry teacher-turned-meth pimp) dropped most precariously, down 12%.
As for the run-of-the-mill, non-directly Hollywood inspired names, the most popular in 2013 are:
Girls:
1. Sophia
2. Emma
3. Olivia
4. Isabella
5. Mia
6. Ava

10. Chloe
Boys:
