That's one of the revelations from an upcoming book by columnist Nick Bilton, which will be featured in this Sunday's New York Times magazine.
Other noteworthy Twitter facts from the book:
- Twitter was also almost called Twitch and Vibrate.
- Co-founder Jack Dorsey "habitually left (work) around 6pm for drawing classes, hot yoga sessions and a course at a local fashion school."
- Twitter initially was going to be 160 characters or fewer, before it was lowered to 140.
- Al Gore tried buying Twitter "one night over copious amounts of wine and Patron tequila at his St. Regis suite in San Francisco."
