Retreat by Random House (Canada) is a website that actually exists. If you're wondering where some of the $35 you spent on the latest hardcover went, it's to something like Retreat.
The Retreat website is like the illegitimate lovechild of a library and HGTV after a tryst in the home decorating section at a Chapters* in Toronto. This is to say that, if anything, it's different I guess, so props for that.
They recently posted a slideshow about reading nooks for children, which is charming to see if only because it's cute to pretend children still read. Aww, make-believe can be fun!
What we can take away from these photos with any certainty is that Canadian kids have better reading nooks than I have for an apartment.
Here are a few samples from Retreat:
Damn.
I feel like a hobo.
*For those of you who keep forgetting Canada isn't the United States, Chapters is the Canadian equivalent of a Barnes & Noble. Now you know!
