Male students at southern universities love fraternities.

Not that this sounds like anything new, but now there's a list backing up this popular perception.

U.S. News and World Report came out with the top ten schools with highest fraternity membership. Five of the ten are situated in southeastern states, with three more schools located in states within that vague wannabe south vibe, at least in heart (West Virginia, Indiana).

The top ten schools are a who's who of who?, which might explain the need to socialize. Boredom has its limitations.

School  (state)
1.  Welch College (TN)
2.  Washington and Lee University (VA)
3.  DePauw University (IN)
4.  Sewanee--University of the South (TN)
5.  Ohio Valley University (WV)
6.  Millsaps College (MS)
7.  Transylvania University (KY)
8.  Albion College (MI)
9.  Wabash College (IN)
10.  Whitman College (WA)

I double-checked to make sure U.S. News didn't mean DePaul University in Illinois and not DePauw University in Indiana. Turns out there is a DePauw, which I can only assume leads to many conversations for those students with people who say "DePaul is a lovely school!"
