No one cared or grave diggers were in a hurry, say researchers who dug up Richard's body under a parking lot recently. Hurry? Carelessness? No matter the reason, scholars say in their latest follow-up report Richard was buried "with minimal reverence" after his defeat at the Battle of Bosworth Field, which ended the War of the Roses.
Admittedly, researchers say, Richard's deceased body had been on public display for multiple days at the height of summer, so his body was probably deteriorating badly at that point.
Oh, that silly little fact of decomposing bodies in summer.
