Judge offers chance to read book instead of community service. Surprisingly, it isn't Chicken Soup for the Soul.

But it's close.

Judge John Clinton of Houston, TX, offered The Heart of the Problem as some light reading to skip over community service for small-time criminals. Except The Heart of the Problem is a Christian scripture-based book that, according to its description on Amazon, "shows readers how to fight sin effectively."

How about how to fight the prosecutor effectively, amiright??

Well, I don't need to explain (but I will) that judges can't hand out religion-based books. The law is supposed to be impartial that way. To Judge Clinton's credit, he stopped quickly and without fuss once someone told him that, you know, not everyone is the same religion as he is. Learning that can be revolutionary news to Texans.
