Famous Writers with Dogs: Anton Chekhov

Writers need inspiration somewhere in life, and for many that inspiration comes from their pet dogs.

This is a running series where we post pictures of famous writers with their canine companions--the cute, the cuddly, the creepy. And that's just the writers.

Today:  Anton Chekhov

When taking casual photography, make sure to wear your best trench coat while throwing Mr. Bowser in a head-lock. Not only will you look fashionable, but it teaches the pup who's boss.

Is the dog alive? This is Russia. There's a 50/50 shot the dog is frozen solid.

This post was originally labeled under the "Famous Writers with Cats" banner--until it was pointed out by the comment below that it's a dog, not a feline, that Chekhov has in a death lock.

But it IS Russia. Everything looks a bit rougher after a few tough winters, even the cats.
