Even though he was born in Boston, Massachusetts, Poe has never really been associated with the city or the state. When people think Poe locations, Baltimore usually wins out.
This isn't stopping the Edgar Allan Poe Foundation of Boston from constructing a statue in honor of The Raven's author.
The Foundation raised $225,000 for the cause, selecting sculptor Stefanie Rocknak's design from hundreds of submitted options. On October 4, 2014, Poe's statue will be installed at the intersection of Boston's Boylston Street and Charles Street South.
As Rocknak told Boston Magazine, Poe "...is finally coming home."
