The Friday Poem: Dip, by Ian Williams

Every Friday we'll have The Friday Poem. (A capitalized title--and italicized!--so you know it's official and whatnot.) Famous poets, obscure poets, amateur poets, whatever poets--just a poem to end the week.

Like this one:

Dip, by Ian Williams

The friends I friended do not show.
One by one, yellow leaves, they text
—the snow, the snow, the snow, the snow—
sad emoticons of their faces.

One by one, down an arpeggio, they text
See you Monday. I will face them and
as always
and and my face.
I’ll say, Forget about it. I understand.

On Monday I will have to face them and
the snow, the snow, the snow, the snow.
I’ll say, Forget it. Really. I understand
the friends I friended did not show.
